MOX - Co-Making for Creatives
LIMITED SPACES: Join us for our film night in commemoration of Singapore Water Week! Set in a post-apocalyptic future of global flooding, survivors seek out the mythical Dryland. Click 'Interested' to stay updated.
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL. Those who register early will get good, tasty cold-pressed healthy juice in reusable hard glass bottle courtesy of Green Hydrant, brewed at Katong. One of our small ways to go local and help support the surrounding Katong community.
After the melting of the polar ice caps, most of the globe is underwater. Some humans have survived, and even fewer still, notably the Mariner (Kevin Costner), have adapted to the ocean by developing gills. A loner by nature, the Mariner reluctantly befriends Helen (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and her young companion, Enola (Tina Majorino), as they escape from a hostile artificial island. Soon the sinister Smokers are pursuing them in the belief that Enola holds the key to finding the mythical Dryland.
In July, we will be exploring the what-ifs of human survival after climate change has unleashed all its consequences. How might we be interacting and living with one another? What do we then aspire towards?
FLOATING CHINAMPA MAKING
Before the movie, we will all learn to make floating farm structures inspired by an ancient technology developed by the Mesoamericans called Chinampas, out of upcycled plastic water bottles. If you have plastic bottles to contribute, bring them along.
BIOSKOPE will be held at MOX, Katong Point, 451 Joo Chiat Rd, 427664, near 112 Katong Mall. You can catch bus 16 from City Hall or Dakota MRT.
BIOSKOPE (inspired by the word 'movie theatre' in Bahasa Indonesia and 'an early movie projector' in English) is a series exploring less popular, unique films that may bring thought-provoking and inspiring perspectives into our society. Beyond movie screening, audiences get to experience hands-on sessions, to provide an interactive element to the film medium.
We're also helping to fundraise for future community outreach initiatives. Proceeds help cover refreshment, tools, material & facilitation costs, grow BIOSKOPE, space rental and build up the ground-up innovation movement.
